Rane to launch Marathi newspaper 'Prahar'

Paragraph.Mumbai, July 31: The Chief Minister's chair may have eluded him so far, but Revenue Minister Narayan Rane would soon have the 'Chief' prefix, with launching of his newspaper 'Prahar' in Dussehra here.

Rane, who has been eyeing Vilasrao Deshmukh's chair since entry into Congress in 2005, would be the 'Editor in Chief' of the Marathi newspaper, it was announced here on Wednesday.

The launch would coincide with the traditional Dussehra rally of Shiv Sena, whose mouthpiece 'Saamana' has been regularly targeting the former Shiv Sainik. Earlier this year, a front-page morphed photo of Rane as a 'bride' in Saamana, had evoked Rane's ire.

Rane's two sons, Nilesh, who has a doctorate in Commerce and Nitesh, an MBA from London, were present at the function in south Mumbai to announce the launch of 'Prahar'. The sons already manage a local English newspaper.

Veteran journalist Alhad Godbole would be editor of 'Prahar'.
